My Journey
My work today has many expressions—writing, teaching, conversations, energy work and community—but at the heart of all of it has always been something very simple: helping people reconnect with themselves.
This isn’t a path I stepped onto recently. It has unfolded over more than two decades, through my own life experiences, years of learning and teaching, the creation of a physical wellbeing centre, writing and publishing, speaking, working one-to-one with people, and continuing to explore the connection between our human experience and our spiritual selves.
The names and the ways I have worked have changed over the years. The thread running through them hasn’t.
A gentle return to self.
Where It Began
My journey into energy work began more than two decades ago, although at the time I had no idea where it would eventually lead.
It began with Basic Feng Shui. I was curious about energy, our environments and the way the spaces around us can affect how we feel.
And through that course, I met the woman who would become my Reiki Master.
That meeting opened another door.
I began learning Reiki for myself. First Degree led to Second Degree, then Master level, and eventually to teaching and sharing Reiki with others.
What started as curiosity gradually became part of the way I lived, worked and understood the world around me.
Over the years, that path continued to expand — through further learning, teaching, working with people one-to-one, creating a physical wellbeing centre, writing, speaking and exploring other forms of energy and spiritual practice.
Looking back now, I can see that each chapter led naturally to the next.
Becoming The Teacher
I don’t think I ever consciously decided, “I’m going to become a teacher.”
It seemed to happen naturally.
As I continued through First Degree, Second Degree and eventually Reiki Master Teacher in 2005, I found myself wanting to share what I had learnt with other people — not to tell them what they should believe, but to give them the knowledge and tools to explore it for themselves.
That philosophy has stayed with me.
Over the years, the subjects have changed and the way I teach has evolved, but I have always believed that the role of a teacher isn’t to create followers. It is to encourage people to question, experience, learn and ultimately trust themselves.
More than twenty years later, I still teach Reiki.
But somewhere along the way, I realised I wasn’t only teaching Reiki.
I was sharing what life had taught me.
Jasmine Sky & Expanding the Work
In 2012, another chapter began when Jasmine Sky Wellness Centre opened its doors.
What had started years earlier as a small home-based practice had grown into a physical wellbeing centre — a place where I could bring together many of the things I had been learning, practising and teaching.
For the next thirteen years, Jasmine Sky became much more than somewhere I worked. It was a place for treatments, classes, workshops, conversations and community, and a place where many students began or continued their own Reiki journeys.
During those years, my work also began taking me beyond the centre. I taught through WEA Illawarra for a number of years and served on the Board of Reiki Australia, experiences that allowed me to contribute to the wider teaching and Reiki communities as well as my own.
My own learning continued too.
My exploration of energy work expanded beyond Reiki into Seichim and Karuna Reiki®, eventually becoming a Master Teacher in both. After becoming a Seichim Master, I travelled to Egypt — much as I had travelled to Japan after becoming a Reiki Master.
For me, both journeys were about going beyond what I had learned in a classroom and connecting more deeply with the history, culture and places associated with the practices I had chosen to teach.
Meditation, breathwork and EFT tapping also became part of my work. Each added something different to the way I understood people, energy, emotions, the body and the ways we can support ourselves through change.
I wasn’t collecting modalities for the sake of collecting them. Each became another piece of a much larger understanding that had been developing over many years.
Eventually, the individual labels mattered less than what they allowed me to do — listen, respond and draw on different tools depending on the person or situation in front of me.
Running a physical centre taught me things no qualification ever could — about people, business, resilience, change and myself.
Jasmine Sky eventually closed its doors in 2025.
But those thirteen years didn’t disappear when the doors closed. Much of what I know about working with people — and much of the work I do today — was shaped there.
The work kept expanding, but the intention underneath it remained the same: helping people reconnect with themselves.
Writing, Creating & Finding My Voice
Long before I wrote Why? Why Not?, I had spent years learning, exploring and putting many of its subjects into practice in my own life.
Much of that learning began through the meditation classes I attended with my Reiki Master, while at the same time I was branching out into other areas of study and following my own curiosity about life, personal growth and the way we understand ourselves.
In 2013, a friend who was searching for something more in her own life asked me to share some of what I had learned. She and a friend began coming to Jasmine Sky each week, and what started simply grew into regular classes exploring many of those subjects and practical techniques.
I later began teaching many of the same subjects through the centre and WEA Illawarra.
Over time, I realised there were people who might benefit from what I was teaching but would never be able to sit in one of my classes.
That became the reason for writing Why? Why Not?
Published in 2015, the book brought much of what I had learned and taught together, so people could explore the ideas for themselves — to reflect, question, practise and discover what worked for them in their own lives.
The meditation album followed, with short guided meditations based around subjects explored in the book.
Then came the Intuitive Guidance Cards, offering another way to pause, reflect and connect with your own inner guidance.
And those cards unexpectedly opened another door.
Through them, I was invited to speak at the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Sydney.
Suddenly, something I had created from my own work was taking me beyond the classes and conversations I was used to and onto a much larger public platform.
I spoke about subjects I had spent years learning, exploring and teaching — drawing on the same practical and spiritual perspectives that had shaped my work, my book and eventually the cards themselves.
What struck me was that although the audience was larger, the reason I was standing there hadn’t really changed.
I still wanted people to question, explore and discover what resonated for them rather than simply being told what to believe.
Looking back, I can see another thread beginning to emerge.
Teaching had given me one way to share.
Writing and creating had given me another.
And I was beginning to discover what could happen when I used my voice.
Where I Am Now
When Jasmine Sky Wellness Centre closed its doors in May 2025, it marked the end of a significant chapter in my life.
But it wasn’t the end of the work.
In many ways, it gave me the space to look at everything I had learned, taught, created and experienced over more than two decades, and ask what I genuinely wanted to carry forward.
What emerged was less about choosing one modality and more about bringing together the different parts of my work.
Today, my work continues to evolve.
I still teach Reiki and other energy practices. I continue to work with people through Essence Renewal©, while increasingly exploring ways of bringing people together through shared experiences.
This has included in-person Energy & Sound Re-Set Hours, created in collaboration with my beautiful friend, a sound practitioner, as a space for people to step away from everyday life, pause, receive and simply be for an hour.
I am also developing the idea of a regular online Distant Healing Circle, creating a space where people can come together from wherever they are, regardless of the healing practice or spiritual tradition they follow. Reiki, other forms of energy healing, prayer and intention are all welcome — coming together with one shared vision: to receive healing, to send healing to Gaia, and to extend that healing intention to the world around us.
I write and create. Through Conversations with Lee-Anne, I explore everyday life through both human and spiritual perspectives — not to tell people what to believe, but to encourage curiosity, understanding and reflection.
My own connection with Gaia and energy work continues to deepen, alongside a growing desire to work with groups, speak, travel and share what I have learned in new ways.
I don’t know exactly what every future chapter will look like.
And after all these years, I’ve learned that I don’t need to.
What began with curiosity about energy all those years ago has become something much broader — a body of work shaped by experience, learning, intuition, curiosity and a willingness to keep exploring.
And beneath all of it, the intention remains remarkably simple:
To help people reconnect with themselves, trust what they know, and find their own way forward.
A gentle return to self.
